OIS Begins a new term and starts boarding
Department: OIS

Our first intake of boarding students joined the school in January 2006. From Orapa, Palapye, and Gaborone the six boys and four girls are enjoying staying in the two thatched, wooded houses situated on the Love Botswana property. It is quite the change from the city life! Boarders have the opportunity to visit town on Saturday mornings, attend Fire By Night on Friday nights as well as attened church on Sundays. They partake in various activities in Maun as well.

Once again one of our teachers took a group of Environment Club students to visit the Living with Elephants Foundation. There the resident elephants, Jabu, Thembi and Morula allowed the children to touch and feel them - and learn about elephants behaviour. Thembi couldn't resist taking off the boy's caps, much to their delight. This trip will remain a highlight of the last term.

Prison ministry full of fruit
Department: Village Church

The discipleship ministry to the Boro prison has been nothing short of awe inspiring. The newly saved prisoners are diving into the discipleship material with an excitement that boarders on the surreal. Each week they are eager for their homework to be checked, their blanks to be filled in and their lives to be changed.

Women's conference in Harrismith, South Africa
Department: Village Church

The Women’s conference was dynamic! We were challenged in many areas; like the area of finding true happiness, and the area of motherhood in which we learned to be role models – to be mothers to our spiritual children and the motherless in our communities. We were especially blessed by the subject of leading with love and being mentors not only to our natural children but to our spiritual children as well. All the ladies are looking forward to next year’s conference. We are ready for His harvest, as the soil of our hearts has been cultivated.

From the President and founder Jerry Lackey
Department: Love Botswana

As the heat of the African summer yields to the winter months, the lush green bush from the record rain falls makes its transition to the golden colors of the Safari season.

The Village is a buzz with tourists arriving at our Maun airstrip and being loaded into open land cruisers and Landrover’s for their encounter with one of the most incredible destinations on the African continent.

The abundant wildlife and extravagant colors and patterns of Zebras, giraffes, and my favorites, the leopards and chaeta’s, deeply impress upon me how creative the creator really is!

Africa… with its muted natural tones of sun baked clay dwellings, splashed with vibrant colors of Africans dressed in beautiful traditional clothes radiates a warmth not found in many places.

After living with tens of thousands of Elephants practically in my backyard for 20years, I just never get bored with this amazing demonstration of Gods eclectic taste.

Jana and I have been privileged to see a lot of the world, but Africa is really a place everyone should see.

The Love Botswana Launch Center continues to make transitions into the vision he gave me so many years ago. Some seasons it has been baby steps, and some seasons all out warfare, but then there are seasons like the safari season in our community where we seem to be a “Buzz” with supernatural advancement.

I have come to be at peace at whatever season we find ourselves in as a ministry, but it is very cool when things unfold as a result of your prayers and generous partnership!

Here are some of the excellent updates I want to share with each of you….

  • The Tawana Land board awarded LBOM the long awaited Land in Sedia for the ever increasing family at All nations Village Church and Youth training center
  • Our huge new Gospel tent is in route, crossing the ocean to arrive in time for our annual camp meeting and to be erected on our new land.
  • All 11 of our churches will gather in Maun July 6-10 for our 1st annual Signs and Wonders Conference.
  • The New LBBI dormitory is getting underway with Resurrection Life’s (Grandville Mi.) gift for construction.
  • The Radio station studio should be completed within a few months. We are now tendering to compete for 1 of 3 National broadcast licenses.
  • The youth and children’s programs are expanding with our new Youth and Children’s director Gary Pelotshweu.
  • The Sehitwa All Nations Church is really taking root and finding favor with the community.

With a grateful heart

Mother and son reunited - A testimony from a care worker
Department: Mercy Ministries

On November 9th 2005 Maun had the first heavy rain of the season. It was also the day that a very special baby boy was born. Love Botswana was asked to help with this baby as his mother was sick. On the day he was born, Love Botswana began to help the hospital nurses with feeding and caring for him and then when he was two weeks old he went to live with a Love Botswana foster family.

Throughout this time Love Botswana was also providing the mother with practical and emotional support. As she grew stronger, the baby was taken to her for ever increasing access visits. To start with, she would spend a few hours with him once a week but as the weeks passed and her health improved, she was able to care for him three days a week. Meanwhile, he lived with his foster parents the rest of the week and grew healthy and strong.

At the age of five months, the baby’s mother felt well enough to provide full time care for her son and he moved back to live with her. However, Love Botswana recognized the importance of ongoing support to ensure that his return to her was sustainable, and so continued to provide practical and emotional assistance.

Mother and baby are now doing very well. They have a strong bond and his mother is delighted to be reunited with him. Love Botswana was privileged to play a part in enabling this mother and son to be together.
