The Children's World News
Department: Village Church
The teachers enjoyed a wonderful time of rest, bonding and training as they attended a weekend Training Retreat in the bush September 11-12. They were trained on how to effectively reach children vs adults, how to prepare and present a lesson and many other useful tools in doing children's ministry.
In the primary and preteen classes a program called Servants was created and implemented mid September. Children signed up for servant positions in their class including Prayer Pals, Offering, Greeters, Worship Team as well as many other positions. The children have since taken ownership of their classes and begun to serve each week allowing the teachers to step back and allow the children to grow both spiritually but also in a relational manner. The students serve with pride and a mile wide smile stretched across their beautiful faces!
On October 23 the children celebrated in their classes the birthday of Pastor Jerry Lackey. They were especially honored as Maruti, Setswana for 'pastor', personally visited and spoke to each class. He was blessed likewise as the children cheered for him and sang him rounds of Happy Birthday. It was amazing to see such a simple gesture mean so much in the lives of our kids!
With the end of the year nearing, teachers are wrapping up lessons and preparing for end of the year parties and crafts. It's an exciting time in the Children's World as the growth continues and the teachers stand firm in their development and skills. Join us in celebrating the children's lives who are touched weekly through this ministry!
