Prevention Programs
Our prevention program puts forth the strategies of Mercy Ministries concerning the stem of HIV through prevention that specifically targets persons aged 10-24 as well as pregnant and lactating mothers and their children. The project will be developed in Maun and will target the local needs of the Northwest and Okavango Districts.
What do we aim to accomplish?
- Youth Prevention
PER YEAR -- 15,000 youth reached in the schools; 2,000 youth reached in annual extravaganza; 8,000 reached through radio broadcasts; 100 future pastors & leaders trained in abstinence or HIV/AIDS concerns; 400 congregants trained in HIV/AIDS Positive Health.
- Mother To Child Transmission
Educate and serve 100 mothers and their children; introduce PMTCT programme to all pregnant and lactating mothers in The Village Church areas of Etsha 6, Gumare, Nxamasere, Ngurunge, Ikoga, Shakawe and Sehitwa.
- Capacity Building
Build headquarters and conference centre; hold annual meetings for pastors and national religious associations; begin broadcasting; secure a library and resource centre with HIV/AIDS educational materials / teaching aids; incorporate abstinence / fidelity in message content at The Village Churches and include it as a topic of discussion within evangelical circles throughout Botswana.
