It’s a calling. They are committed to the long-term and remain committed to this nation. They have applied for permanent residency, but are open to where the Lord may lead them.
What types of shopping are available?
In Maun, you can shop at the local market and stores. However, there is only a "western type" mall in the capital, Gaborone.
Are there restaurants to eat out at?
There are several restaurants in Maun. Most nicer establishments are priced for tourists, however, there are many "mom and pop" restaurants for authentic Botswana meals.
How far away is the Okavango Delta?
The Delta is a 30 minute flight or a 3 hour drive north from Maun.
What types of animals can you see around town?
Donkeys, dogs, cows and goats are prevalent around town. Annually, when the water comes into the Thalamakana River hippos gather at what is called the "hippo pool." The hippo pool is within 1 kilometer of Love Botswana's Launch Center.
What types of animals can you see just outside of town?
Within a twenty minute drive you can see lions, elephants, giraffe, zebra, warthog, and a variety of antelopes. Maun has a wildlife refuge where you can see most of the typical African animals.
What are the roads like?
Maun claims a few tar roads, but primarily sand roads are the norm.
Do you have access to TV, radio or Internet?
TV is available by satellite. Radios are available at local stores. Satellite internet is available and offers speeds from 64k-512k. The most prevelant service is dial up and often runs at a connection speed slower than 56k; 16 –24K to be more exact. |
